"Yarns from Awesome Lake" - Book Release!

Welcome!

My name is Merl Eastman, I am an avid Outdoorsman, Retired Fishing & Hunting Guide, and now a Self-Published Author.

I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1952. My parents were both Newfoundlanders, and in 1969 our family moved back to Newfoundland. I have lived here ever since, with the exception of 4 years, where I lived in New Brunswick for work as a Carpenter in the 70's. I have always loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. I learned many outdoorsman skills over the years, and have enjoyed teaching my children those skills. I also taught these skills to many Boy Scouts as I was a Boy Scout Leader for 12+ years.

In 1991, I was hired as a Fishing Guide at the former Awesome Lake Lodge in Labrador, Canada. The next year I became the Head Guide and continued to work this position for 10 years. "Yarns from Awesome Lake" is a collection of hilarious, exciting, and remarkable true fishing stories from that time. The stories are filled with humorous events, wonderful adventures, and of course... Monster Brook Trout, and tips to Land 'Em. I have included over 30 photos, a Caribou Hunting Story, and as a bonus read my Multigenerational Eastman Family Ghost Stories! I end the book, with a very emotional and personal story, of the loss of my youngest son, Ronnie, to a fishing accident. I have also included a song I wrote in memory of him. Ronnie loved fishing and hunting, and I am sure he continues to in Heaven.

Thank you for taking the time to drop by my site. I hope you enjoy my stories as much as many others already have.

P.S. FYI... I have plans for in the near future to write a series of Children's Books centered around the adventures of my best friend, Cassie, the smart and loving 4 years old Beagle with me in the photo above.

If you would like to get to know me more, you are welcome to follow me on Facebook.
